DAY
TWO:
Fly-in Safari from Windhoek to Sossusvlei,
famous for the highest dunes in the world. Transfer to Wolwedans
Dune Lodge, a structure of tented chalets on wooden platforms,
built directly over the deep-orange sands of the Namib desert.
You will do excursions into this magical landscape with guided
4x4 tours which will take your breath away, because of its
indescribable beauty. The night skies in the Namib are, according
to all experts, the clearest and deepest anywhere on our globe.
NOTE: All meals
and tours are included in the price of the tour.
DAY THREE:
After another early morning excursion and
a lovely breakfast on the wooden deck of the lodge, you will
be transferred to Wilderness Sossusvlei Lodge, situated close
to Sossusvlei and on hills overlooking the vast expanse of
where desert meet escarpment. You can go for a late afternoon
sunset drive or just relax at this wonderful lodge, which
has plunge pools at each of its private chalets, and a great
view terrace with bar.
DAY FOUR:
You will be taken on an early morning guided
tour to Sossusvlei and climb "Big Daddy" or "Big
Mamma", the highest two dunes in the world. After a brunch
under the camelthorn trees, you will return to your lodge
and enjoy the tranquility and peace.

DAY FIVE:
Transfer by air via the breathtaking coastline
of the wild Atlantic, where dunes meet the stormy seas, to
the quaint little town of Swakopmund, known for its German
colonial architecture and its healthy climate. You will be
accommodated at either the stately and traditional Hansa Hotel
or the upmarket Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre,
situated in the magnificent old railway station building and
right next to the local Casino. You will have the whole day
to walk along the gorgeous beaches, explore excellent shopping
boutiques and enjoy locally brewed beer, renowned for the
purity of the water used. The German colonial history is well
documented in the excellent little museum and you can climb
onto the old lighthouse for a view over the entire region.
We can arrange, as a separate item, for you to go dune-bugging,
paragliding or hot-air ballooning, or even to go out fishing
in what is known to be an angler's paradise. Dinner at a venue
to be decided, but probably in the railway coach-themed restaurant
at the casino, which offers the best buffet we have experienced
anywhere.
DAY SIX:
You will now proceed by car (self-drive or
guided tour, as per your wishes) along the coast to Cape Cross,
a seal colony north of Swakopmund. From there via the highest
mountain in Namibia, the Brandberg, home of the wonderful
Bushman Rock Art, into the heart of Damaraland, where there
are a number of world-class lodges which we will use as a
base to show you some very different sites, like the Burnt
Mountain, the Petrified Forest and Vingerklip natural monument.
Mowani, Huab or Vingerklip Lodge will be our overnight stop,
each unique in its own way, but with outstanding services.
DAY SEVEN:
We will explore the area a little longer
in the morning before proceeding to Ongava Game Lodge, part
of the Wilderness Safari group with its renown for the perfect
synergy of natural beauty and creature comforts. It is situated
on the western entrance to the Etosha Pan Wildlife Reserve,
the focus of every visitor to Namibia. You will stay two nights
at this lodge and the tour includes one guided visit into
the Reserve with an experienced game ranger (Note: you can
do self-drive visits or order additional guided tours, as
you wish).
DAY EIGHT:
Ongava Game Lodge . Etosha Pan .

DAY NINE:
Drive through the entire reserve, taking
your time, and proceed to Mushara Lodge, just outside the
eastern entrance of Etosha. Be sure to visit the many watering
holes, which are the best place to view the animals in this
dry saltpan. Also stop at Fort Namutoni, the old fortress
built by the Germans at the beginning of last century.
DAY TEN:
Drive back to Windhoek, via Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo;
please stop to look at the woodcarvings just outside Okanhandja
and kindly support these ethnic artists by acquiring a memento
of this fascinating country. Return to Windhoek for your evening
flight or overnight one more time at Heinitzburg, using any
additional time for some excellent shopping of ethnic art,
woven Karakul carpets, semi-precious stones or exquisite jewelry
from the local craftsmen.
Transfer to Windhoek International Airport
or, alternatively, return of your rental car.
