MORE ABOUT ERIK
"Hello, I am Erik Blumer, born in 1949 in Würzburg,
Germany. My father was a minister of religion of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church and was sent to South Africa where I attended
primary school. My high school years I spent in Germany
again, but matriculated in South Africa. I studied philosophy,
psychology and political science at the University of Stellenbosch.
And voila, my first posting as a South African diplomat
was at the South African Embassy in Bonn, Germany. The first
37 years of my life I virtually commuted between Germany
and South Africa.
Then came the most challenging three years in my career,
as the Foreign Affairs representative in the Office of the
South African Administrator General in Windhoek, implementing
UN Resolution 435 for elections and independence of Namibia.
After the elections in November 1989 I served as Consul
at the South African Consulate General in Chicago, USA.
Based on these two experiences, I am well qualified to show
you Namibia, one of the largely unknown jewels of Africa,
and to attend to our American clients.
After 22 years of service in the Department of Foreign
Affairs I moved back to Cape Town, from where in the 50's
I started to discover this beautiful country South Africa.
Because of my great passion in life for old motor vehicles,
antiques and classical music, I hope to be able to package
your very own signature tour for you to Southern Africa
involving these and many of the other special interests
you may have. ' Wo man singt, da lass Dich ruhig nieder.
Böse Menschen singen keine Lieder '(Settle where your
heart sings). I settled in Cape Town for this reason, the
beauty of this city and surroundings makes my heart sing".
